First Half:
The first half saw an intense defensive display from Dartford Valley, as Maidstone dominated possession. Dartford Valley found it difficult to make inroads into the opposition half, with much of the game being played in their own territory. Despite being under constant pressure, the defence held strong for most of the half. However, Maidstone eventually broke through with a try to take a 5-0 lead into half-time.
Second Half:
The second half was a different contest altogether. Dartford Valley came out with renewed energy, making strong carries and putting Maidstone on the back foot. While both teams exchanged points in a fast-paced and open second half, neither side was able to take full control of the game.
Dartford Valley’s back three – Jamie, Keiran, and Cameron – delivered standout defensive performances, keeping the team competitive. On the offensive side, Si, Joe, and Callum made some big carries that pushed the team forward and created several scoring opportunities. Dartford Valley managed to put 24 points on the board, showing their fighting spirit. However, Maidstone’s first-half lead and additional scoring in the second half saw them come away with a 34-24 victory.
Despite the loss, Dartford Valley can be proud of their second-half performance and the character shown in the comeback effort. There’s plenty of positives to take into the next game.
